Biography
Growing up in two very different cities, San Francisco and Murfreesboro, Tenn. has helped me to develop into a well-rounded young woman. My diverse background has shaped me into the motivated, compassionate and understanding person I am today.
Making the decision of where to go to college was my toughest to date. I was torn between going to a school back in California or staying in the South where my new home was. I made my choice, I was going to Auburn University.
I eventually decided on a major in Public Relations with a minor in Spanish. I felt this major best suited my personality and gave me the opportunity to do two of my favorite things: communicate and write. I chose Spanish as a minor because I know Spanish skills are important today and I was always interested in learning another language. To gain hands-on Spanish experience, I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain for six weeks in summer 2005. This was one of the best experiences of my college career.
Academics are not the only thing at Auburn University. I became involved in many activities, both social and public relations related. I joined a social sorority my freshman year and served as the assistant financial VP, external social chairwoman and senior celebration chairwoman. My social sorority has been an excellent lesson in responsibility, as well as given me hands-on experience interacting with people from many different backgrounds.
I also served as the Panhellenic Director of Public Relations during 2005. I have been active in AUPRCA (the student Auburn chapter of the Public Relations Council of America) since 2004 and served as the 2006-2007 Vice President of Projects. Other activities I am involved with on campus are IGNITE AUBURN, AUCR and Rho Lambda, a Panhellenic Honors Society.
In summer 2005, I did a communications internship with the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Although this was a summer internship, I was able to work on a citywide campaign to pass a referendum to fund a new $14.5 million conference center.
From May 2007-June 2008, I lived in New York City. While there, I completed an internship at Harrison & Shriftman and was an Associate Account Executive at Evins Communications, Ltd. In July 2008, I realized how much I missed the warm weather and charm of the South so I now reside in Atlanta, Ga.
